Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

0 posted 2006-09-28 01:01 AM

Yesterday’s dreams dance on the tip of my tongue
Lingering like over-sweetened cereal with little substance
They seemed so real back then in yesterday, so tangible and touchable
Now they seem like fragments of cotton candy fluff blowing in the fall winds
As I watch pieces flit by, I wonder what attracted me to them in the first place
And then I realize that I no longer care.
I am older and more cynical
I am jaded and more dubious

Dreams exist to accessorize my thoughts and add color to my world
They plant themselves like small seed pods and may germinate into beautiful blooms
Or maybe they will simply fly into part of me that is a vast emptiness
They deposit a small thought which will grow and become beautiful
They may fill a part of me that once was simply waiting to become a garden of dreams.
Realization fills me again that cynical, jaded and dubious are not parts of me
I do care
I am older, but I still believe in the magic of dreams.

I would gripe that this poem is wordy.....except for one minor impediment...that it WORKS, dang it! It works!

Thank you, y'all.  It is kind of wordy, but sometimes the words just have to come out.

It's not my fault -- they take on a life of their own.

Thanks for reading,
aziza

Enjoyed...reminded me of something an exgirlfriend said to me, upon returning to visit her some years later...she said "I don't know what I saw in you."   James
