you took your heart to venice
with my blessing
I wanted you to go
really...

I said
tell the pigeons
in plaza san marco
hello for me
hold your arms wide
my love
let them eat
from your hands and shoulders

you sent a picture
pigeon on your shoulder
both of you
looking into the camera
I don’t recognize the bird
and did you have to smile so damn wide?

Delightful Kate.  I so enjoy reading you, and often peek in just to check on my favorite poets. You are indeed one of those poets.     Good morning, Lady.

oh yes. those piegeons.
myself and a friend had a bright idea of feeding one of them in san marco's square.
it was quite traumatising really.
