Valley Of The Sun

As the sun begins to waken in the morning with a yawn
It stretches out its golden arms in a glorious shining dawn
Underneath southwestern skies there lies a peaceful place
Where nature still is undisturbed in all her wondrous grace

There’s a valley there beside a lake so peaceful and serene
Where flowers grow with deeper hues than you have ever seen
Animals are plentiful where the clear cool waters run
And the native people there call it the Valley of the Sun

The otters frolic playfully before they stop and look
For fish and other things to eat in the waters of a brook
Antelope and deer are found in overwhelming numbers
And on a sunny ledge a lazy mountain lion slumbers

But the most unique of all the sights within this place to see
Is the herd of wild mustangs that still are roaming free
They graze among the grass without a worry or a care
Until the lead horse smells the scent of danger in the air

The herd then moves in unison while racing with the wind
Across the valley floor they fly until they reach the end
You can hear their pounding hoof beats as majestically they run
Across the golden grasslands through the Valley of the Sun

I want to  hear the wild mustangs run.  I want to see them and breathe them.  I want to be in this place -- and you took me there.

Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece with us.
You always manage to sweep the reader up with your imagery
and carry us away, to a place with no worries, if only for a short while.
Hugs~Nancy
