There is a girl...
She dances and twirls
In yellow or white sun dresses

You may search all around
but she can only be found
deep in my mind's recesses.

There she plays
and there she'll stay
Forever in beauty sublime

Many years have passed
Without touching the lass
Felicitously frozen in time.

She accompanied me
to ecstasy
When Love made its grand premiere

Although there's been sequels
none of them equals
That first, so magic and dear.

She was the first
To quench my thirst
The first to moisten my lips

No kiss that came since
has been as intense
Nor hotter finger tips

We loved in the light
and in the dark of night.
In wakefulness and sleep

There had been none before
or so she swore...
With a lie more than twelve layers deep.

My skin still burns
with the things I learned
The things she knew so well

I forgave and forgave
For only she could save
my heart from the depths of her Hell

She was my damnation
and my salvation
To both she held the key

To keep her... I'd pray
But there stll came the day
When my heart was finally set free.

Hollowed out and shattered
Nothing else mattered
But it's true what they say about Time.

Days turned to years
Drying my tears
From the pit I slowly did climb.

Last time she was seen
She was obese, old and mean
Cussing her kids all about

The folks in the mall
were disgusted,  appalled
and I was thankful we didn't work out.

But still...
There is a girl...
She dances and twirls
In yellow or white sun dresses...

I could swear I heard a mandolin in the background.  Very musical, and why, of course, shouldn't it be!  Perfecto!

This is one of those that defies you to quote just one or two lines as being the ones that stand out. Quite simply, the entire work stands out. Very lovely.

and then smiled...in knowing.

oh how beautiful this memory is, and oh, to have someone wish to remember me that way would be so incredible a feeling.  You have a sweet heart, Larry.

Larry...that memory is one you made, and it's not her, but it's wonderful to think it was like that...and grand to know she was then not now.
