My drummer leads me in cadence,
In solo tympani.
My drummer marches me steady.
In rhythmic dignity.
My drummer keeps an even beat.
Down lonely chosen road.
My drummer beats, as does my heart
In a loyal, loving mode.
And if you wish to march beside me.
Then take hold of my hand.
And follow my drummer as he guides me.
In my lone-life marching band.

The drums give the feeling of something concrete,

they keep the song from flying into foreign speheres.
