Tribute to the life
not what comes after
family hushed
she was only eighteen
her time had come
who cares what they say
that time
too early
to celebrate a life
so early in life
to face a calling
of demented sorts

the cards surround
messages and flowers
stacked entrance ways
dealer rules
there should be no more
no irreversible
foolish sacrifice
tribute is paid
paid in full
she came and went
gracefully

Places of study
must remain
college security
exists in theory
what homeland you said
in practice people pay.
