Lake Of Tears

You carried me to your home on the shore
And there beneath a cresting moon
Wove your fingers through the lace of my hair
Slow hands tracing the length of my spine
Eyes entrapping my mind
And I fell
As quickly as I rose
Down into the depths of love
High on a wave of anticipation
Witnessed by whispering clouds
Spreading their wings
In the pastel skies of evening
And I blushed
Unsure of what to make of this
For it has been so long
And I am so unfamiliar
With how to be a lover
After being nothing more than a mourner
So, I will my mind to release the tethers
That binds it to a memory
Of one who has gone on
I will my heart to trust
And I pray this is not an illusion
For there is no shell on this beach
That is more fragile than my spirit
So if this is where you want to be
If it is my heart you wish to hold
If it is my soul you have sought
Then gather me into your arms
And hold me
As the tide rushes back to the depths
Of a lake
That now bears the tears I cried
While waiting for you to come along
And carry me to your home on the shore.

Sandra, this is
in my own eyes
a delicate and beautiful
wishful song...

I believe others will fall
under its spell as well...

Thank you all. I've never seen myself as a romantic, maybe I am evolving towards it.
