Taste of Regret
By Paul Wilson

Taste of regret lingers
on lips
eyes bleed crimson tears
cutting deep into my heart

Card of chance
played by me
greener pastures lured
me into another’s game

Now I eat crow
served up by you
bitter
this taste of regret

Reflection of our love
shattered
by a million tears
from your broken heart

Paint a sky with no blue
paint my world
broken
without you

Join me as I feast
on crow
I toast you my love
with glass of bitter tears

Tomorrow we may dine
on happiness
and toast each other
with nectar of love

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~

a bitter brew is heartbreak and yet to see tomorrow coming light is so right.

I've been known to eat some crow in my time too.

.

It's much better with gravy though.

But isn't everything?

*wink*

Love you Paullie.

I'm so happy you're here!

Knowing we've hurt one who loves us, regret reaches extra deep. You've penned that so well and the hope for better days ahead.

yes all can and will be ok, know of this kind of pain, even with all forgiveness that has been given, to one with the pain, the soul cannot see through to the light, love, nor, forgive self, self hate is deeper that hate for another, i just had an experiance a couple of nights ago, from one i left, not from lack of love, but for it, to give him all space and time to deal with his life and his demons. well its been two years now, any way, i was outside, thinking of him, i have close connection to him, (i can feel and see when and what is happening to him ) i was talking to him, praying for him, giving him gods love along with mine and forgiveness, i called his name, 10 minutes later he comes walking up my stairs and sits next to me, of course he is very drunk and high on drugs,  but he looked at me with peace, my eyes tearing, i sat on his lap and hugged him, he said, i heard you calling me, he was with heart and soul something i have not seen in years, before the dark took over him, i could tell he finally felt the love and forgiveness, but then right before some one that keeps him in the dark side showed up, he was fighting the feelings, bringing back the pain he is use to .  he left, i pray he gives up the pain of regret and guilt, and replaces it with the love and forgiveness.  i pray for you as well.

My spirit will rise
above the sea~
There will be no drowning
of my soul or me~

Martie... You are such a caring person. Thanks for the reply...Paul

Serenity... Crow wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the feathers. LOL.
Since my little health scare i have to stay as far away from good old homemade gravy as I can. Thanks for the reply and smile you brought to my face...Paul

nicely done
some people are too proud
to eat crow
or recognize regret when they taste it...

Experience can be a tough teacher, but  serves us well...shattered hearts mend wiser and stronger when they heal, but sometimes they carry the battle scars for a long time...a reminder to differentiate, to invest what's real.  Been there, too.

Klassy Lassy...You are right, sometimes it does take a long time too heal and sometimes it's better to move on than to invest in something you may never have again. Thanks for your reply...Paul

These are the words every heart dares to wish spoken to it by it's breaker. That came out confused, so I hope you understand my meaning.
