For Now the Fern

Pathways and fern crossed feeling
an ever glade delight of day
with voices like music all around
stop along the path and watch the sun
it streams across the air
tatting sky to deep dark loam

How grateful this moment caught
the eye stops
and tells the spirit bless you
under the canopy of whatever the sky
a fern requests the shade you see
though I so love the sun shine on me

This week before the closing
summer’s door not locked but opening fall
the change comes quietly yet noisesome
my cry was born into this place
within the cusp of miracles
two seasons play

Stay this minute now my heart
delight this art of growing old
and knowing something to unfold then on
the dropping leaves will tell
how tomorrow will be more

for now the fern

(((((((Martie)))))), thank you for this beauty!
Yes, I am beholding this season's change too ... there is a sweet melancholy to it, as you masterfully express.
Love,
Margherita

The beautiful things of California
are found in its obstinate diversity
and acceptance of what shouldn't go together
yet still does, and one makes room for all.

Such is life, like the fern...ever reaching,
and living in reach through every season,
as it does, uncurling furls of look at me...
yet hiding under the redwood's majesty...

and I know this photo isn't anywhere near
the redwoods, but such beautiful memories
that you've brought home to me.  It's going
to be a good week, Martie...and a very
special one.

Thank you, Margherita...yes, time passing has its sweet melancholy as well as delight.

Sissie...thanks for helping me get my photo posted...one day I'll do it myself. Your reply is beautiful, like you!

I took the photo yesterday at the Los Angeles County fair...looks like a place out in the wilderness, doesn't it?  Who would guess that thousands of people were there to share the beauty.

"within the cusp of miracles
two seasons play"

~ and you have masterfully captured their interplay.

May your Fall be a blessed one.

Ah, a Virgo/Libra cusper are you?
Martie this is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever read here at Pip.
Into my library this goes.

For now.....is forever. The question is, which forever, and when? Got me thinking, birthday girl -- like you always do!

Such a wonderful musing on this moment in your life.  Your phrasing and word selection is awesome.  I love this line...

"tatting sky to deep dark loam"

Hugs, Ken
