Tears of Sorrow

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Be still, my love.
Listen to
liquid memories
that drip,
drop by drop,
from this broken
vessel of love.

Reach out thy hand
and touch
mine fractured clay
of face.
Behold me not
in disdain,
as I weep tears of blood
into the fissures of this
once fertile soil
of the gods.

Our time of harvest
had been
ever so plentiful.
Alas, screaming winds
stripped the fruit
from verdant vines,
leaving the urn
of my soul,
drained
and
empty.

Taste the salt
of these tears
as this now barren land
drinks greedily,
but bears not
the fruit of love's
sweet berries.
I cannot remain,
~ nor can I leave.
My soulless spirit
cries out in vain
for what
once
was.

Come, my love.
Take mine hand
in thine.
Let us begin anew
with the coming
of burgeoning Spring,
that we might reclaim the
passions of seasons past.

Relinquish all regrets,
for the time is ripe
for planting seeds of love,
~ not tears of sorrow.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Total emptiness, not forsaking the hope of tomorrow says much about life.  I really enjoyed this piece.

Seasons of planting, harvest. requite and renewal...  Don't you just love the blossoms and sweet nectars?  They make such vibrant memories, and leave spring ajar even on the coldest days.

May the tears of sorrow pass as the seasons and the seeds of love grow to outlive them.  Such hope within the romance of your words, Linda.  Beautiful!

(angel friendship hugs) This is a pretty, comforting post for the heart, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

Noah ~

Like you, I dislike unhappy endings. However, I recall that a couple years back, I rewrote the ending of one of my sad poems for you. I had to get you back in your "Happy Dance" mode!

I always appreciate your comments on my poetry!
Thank you, Angel Boy!
