Adonis to Win

15 September 2006

Where was love across the plains
on a road California bound
For could love come in strength
that strength of such love found

Her eyes succulent to drink
her smile the path within a heart
The temperature rising
in rhythm set forth

This life, this existence
a pain to surrender, alone
Her body of radiance
her inside firm to tone

On this road to California
a birth place of not to begin
Was there happiness or hate
as to that in Adonis to win

"A happy place, is a place where
the spirit to write runs free"
Christopher W Herbert

Adonis - (Greek mythology) a handsome youth loved by
both Aphrodite and Persephone; "when Adonis died Zeus
decreed that he should spend winters in the underworld
with Persephone and spend summers with Aphrodite"
