Love’s Fawn

14 September 2006

When the heart was warm
and the light green
Her emerald eyes had spoken
for she wanted to be the queen

Proposals of marriage
laying down the law
Such provisions she set
for the man she claims to adore

Her heart broken
in disappointment wept
Was he not the perfect man
or did he have those secrets kept

Those eyes of emerald green
beholden to him in ways borne
For could she love him
and give birth to his fawn

Re, a drop of golden sun”
