Somewhere from down Louisiana way
they say, she came years ago
sellin her favors in southern drawl

"yesuh, ah's can do the shine
so fine, sit back, relax
whilst I works the supple
soft back'n forth
in rounds o' smooth
ah's  give ya the perfect polish"

The leather boys would even
drive the extra mile
or two
cuz no one do the shinin
like Miss Sally do.

They say ole Sally
still does it pretty cheap
if you go on down
round bout fifth street
cuz she never did care much
for money making greed
only craved enough
to take care of her needs

and maybe sometimes
just a lil extra
for dressin up
a Saturday night.

Sally never seemed to mind
havin to do the time
or flirting with the hush puppies
for a lil tip

she just seemed to love
to do the spit
and shine.

This was wonderful! It has a very good rythm; I would love to hear it read aloud!

I remember spit shining my Sunday Shoes, back then I only had 2 pair, and mostly went without any shoes (weather permitting).
Enjoyed the memory inducement

Thank you all so much for enjoying a slice of Sally's life with me. They don't make the leathers quite like they used to.
