Days leave little time
but to think of the emptiness
shared with no one.

Mind tossing thoughts
how to make it on its own
and if an aging body
has the ability
to outlast the workload
that life demands.

All the happiness in a day
can never make up for the
walk through the quiet
of an unlocked door
where so much once was...
and so little is left behind.

I can understand this write so very well.  My solace now is having two excited dogs greet me on my return and that is love - unconditional love.  And then sometimes I lock them out so I'm not shadowed but that, I guess, is how love should be to make space for "me" - as they say.

Thanks Helen.. both my pets are gone now...and I am not so sure I can make the enough time for a new one now that I am working outside the home full time...though I contemplate it often.
