Pain, you've rode beside me
and on me and in me.
I've tried to outrun you
But only go where you send me.
Nine ruptured discs
for twenty eight years
You're all that I know
Like you've always been here.
No pills do I take
To chase you away.
I learned from mistakes
where my private Hells lay.
Through all of these years
I've pushed past your grip
I go through my gears
by biting my lip.
And yes...   I've grown tired
weary and worn
All my salt, I've perspired
My bootstraps are torn.
The weeds have grown tall
and overtaken the yard.
I hear duty call...
But, it's just so damn hard.
Before I start...    I'm exhausted
From pushing past you.
But, I'll do it.
I'll do it !
What else can I do?

You seldom get mentioned.
They all see a smile
It's not my intention
to share the taste of your bile.
Each day is a blessing.
Every spasm is bliss.
With one million more...
You'll get no more than this.

XO, I am sorry to learn of your ever-present suffering. I cannot even imagine how difficult it must be for you.

I admire the strength, courage, and tenacity it takes to get through each day in spite of your pain ~ and without pain-killers!

A well-written sharing of your difficult journey.

Yes, every once in awhile I imagine there being a "sufferer".  Especially in the mornings.  LOL
But...That is also a part of the glorious gift of Life.   Beyond the occasional bouts of whining...there is the hope that by grace I will see MANY more years of "suffering". ::smiles::

Have experienced this pain, and yep, coulnd't stand having to use pain killers either. I love the way you laid this out Larry and Yanno, you are so correct. We gotta be grateful we get one more day, to feel the pain. c'mere
