Why, I ask...
must the heart gird
against the tempest
of faded love once lived,
now but a shadow
precariously perched
upon the stone path
of broken hearts condemned
to eternal solitude and
fading resolve.

For the sigh of loneliness
paints the weary brow
and dust covers the
tears of a life never
lived, forever wanted,
often dreamt...fading
slowly into the sea.

Morning brings but
a droplet of sorrow’s
medicine as the pillar
of staunch reserve
lingers, clings to that
which can not be as
the ebb of a river’s run
drags the ache of heart
into the depths of what
is yet a portrait of that
which can never be.

Oh, I sure know all about that loneliness. You expressed it well.

You poetically painted a vivid and poignant "portrait of that which can never be."

Barry you are a poetic wonder....marvelous, though sad, executed with great intensity, could feel this deeply

I think we all ask 'why' at some point.
Your thoughts run deep Barry..
which makes for wonderful poetry.

Now - while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again....
