I used to think she knew, but now I am not sure.
Her thoughts were oh so true and we would both endure.
I used to think he knew that my heart was true,
that my soul was lost in deepest eyes of blue

He thought she didn't care that he was filled with crap...
He thought she wasn't there and life was but a trap
I wonder if he knows that I love him still
does he realize how to this day I feel.

Their lives were all amuck, he didn't have a clue
He sat there, four wheels stuck, a quagmire full of glue.
How is it she wondered the years had got this way
has he not realized, that she would never stray

He thought she didn't care and all was down the drain.
He thought she wasn't there, her vision once so plain.
Life was never easy, yet this she didn't mind
he was the soul mate she thought she would never find

The year was filled with tears they flowed deep from his well
if only six more beers would keep him from this hell.
I've tried to make him laugh, I've tried to make him smile
how might I make him see, that this is all worthwhile?

He stood in the door, what was she thinking of
Did he know she doubted the bond of what was love.
And as he stood, reflecting of their many years
They were then drawn by the sight of their tears.

Slowly she arose to meet him in embrace
gentle brush of hand upon his tear streaked face
tenderly touching a moment shared by two
quiet understanding, I’ll be here for you.

Step inside that doorway, and then you'll know....I like that, and there's nothing like a duet to put that idea on the front burner.
