The “I” of womanhood
from the underworld of knowing
watches the repetitive
climb, descent, and hide
of all we are inside.

She swims and sinks in tandem with
the thoughts of many minds
and dies to rise again
with the daffodils of Spring.

Tears and laughter overlap
in the seasons of her life
but she becomes adept
at foretelling happiness
to stem the tide of loneliness
threatening so to drown
the forever feminine.

There is night in her world
that darkens her resolve
but daylight too to shine again
the promise of tomorrow
and the storms, yes, the storms,
exist to bring the calm.

And the “I” of womanhood
knows about the devil
in the guise of humankind
but too she knows of love
and this her nourishment,
her protector and her shelter
from a harsh upper world.

She looks at me, you know,
and I wonder - does she smile
or do the tears keep flowing
from the “I” of womanhood?

Honeybunch, I sometimes envy  your deep  thinking mind. I live so much  on the surface. You have the courage to go much deeper. respectfully, martyjo

martyjo - I didn't always go deeper but something happened once and I'm really not sure if it was a good thing or not.  I perhaps envy a "surface" life now when it's too late to go back so ... count yourself lucky and just enjoy!     Thanks for the read!

When you do delve, you do it well.

An excellent write, Helen.

Helen...You would not be you without the deep...it is who I have come to admire so much.

You understand and expressed the "I" of Womanhood very well, Dear Philosophizing Poetess!

You see! You interpret! You write! I read!

Loving hug,
Linda

A most interesting read Helen,  though I am
not of the feminine sex,  I do appreciate
your thoughts and the vision of her.

I like very much the depth and insight of this finely-structured poem--well done.

Thank you, Bill.  I guess it was a case of write or drown and I'm not yet ready for the latter.

They do....and she has so many, so many. You have cried a few of them in her place, I can tell.

Ed - Thank you for the read.  Yes, I guess we help each other out in times of need because it's what friends do.
