In This Perilous World

In this perilous world
I'm tethered to a sweet girl
who doesn't know the fragility of me
but she reminds me of a buzzing bee
stinging my skin as she tries to bring out the best in me

The moon is behind the clouds, so I can't see it
but try and I can feel it
stand long enough in one place
and eventually I'll see Luna's smiling face
and it'll make my sad heart race
the path to the finish line is a tearful trace
of you

I wonder for the good of my soul
is there any emotions I can control
I just scare the trust out of me
she just stares deep into the doubts in me

Like a button on a shirt buttoned wrong
like dead silence in the place of a song
none of these things, like me, seem to belong
oh the good in me, where has it gone?

She sleeps in a shimmering ball
carving a place for me to fall
she leaves her heart on display
nearly perfect in every way
I'm nearly there, but for the fractured, finite love in me
she's nearly aware of the depths of her stormy sea
reaching its arms out for me

In this perilous world
I try to clear the weather for my girl
but I doubt the strength in me
but she's just like a willow tree
she keeps the rain from fading away the best in me

Look there goes a seagull flying free
shot through heaven, like her love is to me
isn't it something to see?
isn't it, someday, something to be?
