written in 2002

there, I saw
beauty of everything
that I’d ever known
and yet to find....

everything I had dreamt of
wanted
fought for
drenching me
with moist smiles of air
in a victorian laced wedding dress
humid/ancient

Each moment yearning
to participate
like
Eleuthera is...
an old ancient woman
with a
friendly tongue
& azure water like
throat yawning
threads of sea
soft tangible music
swaying
layers
unfolding
equating
the sum of something essential
like "Sunday Mornings"  sweet~

exposing my soul’s
most intimate portrait
delving into endless
pools of quiet noise
(white sound)

penetrating nights throughout
....days & in-between
oh my Lord, what an intoxicating voyage
waiting for entry
     to spend itself

dripping a genuine need
diverse imagination
the ocean I sailed as a child
encompassed in this simplicity
this eternal dimension

returning to sobriety
the immobilization of love
both fortune and peril
within
I recognized myself again
recognized
     the intense poet of self-
examination

within this swollen element
there is a prophetic quality
an entire sea
indoctrinating the mind’s eye
to liberty

let it be said...

an intellectual admiration
an exaggerated composition on
my right side
separating woman from child
day from night

yet linking generous convictions
very softly articulating smiles
four encompassed trade winds
combines everything into one sound

multiple language, all in its own,
translating destiny...literally
dedicating a lifetime
of community service to human emotion
opening avenues of spiritual consciousness
from where we develop

How you use it is entirely up to us

and so upon return
there to that place in time
to Eleuthera
I will refresh and be open
to this tremendous touch
this Hand of nature
of sea
of warm tropical trade winds
and
God

I have never before felt so close to everything
like one with all...
in Eleuthera

Whoa!
Write on!
Were you in the Bahamas when you wrote this?
More!

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

On the cusp you were and what an experience it must have been.  Enjoyed this, LeeJ!
