I let it all go, and left,
though I remember looking back,
the aches and pains of every breath,
I had to face the fact
that life is not supposed to be
as hard as I was making it
and the heart should not be still
while someone or something is breaking it.

I let it all go, and left.

Though tonight I lay bereft,
I will not allow this or any theft
or carry to my grave, regret,
but only love I'll not forget.

I absolutely love the rhymes in this one, the way you use 'left' 'bereft' and 'theft', and 'regret' and 'forget'--so well done.

Life can certainly be less stressful when letting go, even if staying in touch at the same time.
