This poem was written for a workshop: writing for children. The assignment was: find a picture that will appeal to kids and write a poem with it.
This is what came out. I hope you have as much fun reading as I had creating it. I hope the link works. http://community.webshots.com/photo/535630853/1535682870058717916sHiYST

When Cat's away on holiday I try to have a ball;
This year I called up all the mice to hold a festival,
For singing, dancing, telling jokes and I could guarantee,
Like every year, they would be safe, my parties are cat free.

They came with thousands to this feast; it wasn't seen before
And many of the mice performed – the crowd kept shouting: "More!"
Then finally it was my turn - the podium was mine!
I grabbed the microphone to sing an aria divine,

When suddenly we heard meowing from the garden house;
The alley cats burst out in catcall, teasing this poor mouse.
On top of that the dogs joined in, it started with some growls,
But soon enough they shouted out the cats with wolfish howls.

No need to tell you folks these days I only play guitar,
From now on I sing in the shower, dreaming I'm a star,
And next time when the cat's away it's gonna be a treat:
A catcall-howling-concert-broadcast, live from my own street!

Munda,
Seems you are about to discover who in our group are especially fond of children. This is extremely precious and the picture would entice the imagination of any child. Bless you are your delightful mind.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

If I'd be this little mousie, I't be singing to the cat 'You're nothing but a hound dog'! He reminds me of Elvis! Any videos?
