You converse with the trees in hush to conspire
whispering words to awake the slumbering fire
a Sorcerers' breeze, ignoring my pleas
far too soon will your spell make summer retire

Rustling leaves, brush aside his ill-tempered words
they will cause your demise, resist and be cured
what remains to be seen of your glorious green
will fall prey to the flames and thus be interred

That his words speak of death contained in their sound
and of one final blaze and fall to the ground
do not rush to that end let these words extend
invitation to stay into Autumns' late days.

I cannot help but smile at the sight of trees ablaze with fall colors and the smell and sounds of a crackling campfire.  However, hearing about all the forest fires, breaks my heart.  This write brought all this to mind.

Smooth flow to this piece and nicely rhymed to boot. An enjoyable read.

Rae,
Thank you. This style of writing is still relatively new to me ( workshop 8/06 ).
I've found it to be quite fascinating, and
would recommend you give it a try, although the "teacher" appears to be on vacation again.

Ahhhhhh Doc, this is a wonderful write, eventhough I'm still confused with this type of meter. I loved the poem though and that's what counts, right?

And now you're hearing voices in the woods too, uh? Isn't it about time you took one of your own pills?

The fire of the sorceror
may be but a voice in the wind
but heaven abides some wayward tide
and red will fall to the skin

the leaves will shush and then
will hush and heave and breathe anew
as flames will lick as autumn kicks
and life will flicker in its brew...

Doc....as always, you are a welcome challenge, and a delightful inspiration!

Munda,
LOL, I hear voices all the time, usually I can't understand a lick of what they're saying. As for this form, I've taken a few liberties while trying to maintain the meter. Thanks I'm glad you liked.
Doc

Sunshine,
Thanks, that's quite an enchanting verse of yours also.
