Phantoms

Tonight, I'm wanting to set my weary mind at ease
and tonight, I'm gonna vy for my soul's release
oh please,
a drop to drink could be my emotional crutch
trickle a little, throw me a nickle,
to place a call, 'cause tonight I feel so much
a harvest of happiness never bountiful
in the backseat of a car
ah, but a social life sure looks beautiful
from afar

I just saw something impossible
thought I saw you standing right here before me
but you've been gone since the moon was full
and these days, the sky is blank, no light to see
the location of the better half of me

What I saw of you now was just a phantom,
'cause you ran away from me at lightspeed
leaving a trail behind
leaving me behind
to try and bandage the places where I bleed

You might regret leaving now, stay, oh I wish you would
and you might remember that we were once something so good
say you could
brighten my haunted week with just a phonecall
smile a bit for the love that was it:
everything I was hoping for, into strong arms I'd fall
a spring light of such fragile contentment
has broken across the bow
of the ship running aground upon resentment
so what to do now?

'Cause I just saw something impossible
thought I saw you standing right here in front of me
but you've been gone and I've been repairing the hull
these days, so I can set sail and travel the sea
to find the missing better half of me

What I saw of you now was just a phantom
everything is in slow motion since you're gone
you've left a trail behind
I want to follow it to find
your version of the story, be it right or wrong

what in the world is this beauty doing way down here, it's back up to the top, so others can share the wealth of this read.

Intensely inspiring, as it devoured me...and will probably touch my heart as long as I live.

Excellent write...
