Listening to every heart

When the Horses Listen

quote:
August 21, 1906
Salina Journal

There appears to be an epidemic among the horses to
run away during the last few days, and no less than a
dozen runaways have been reported within the last week.

Was it like then, even now
when some Mariah winds
sound in August,
surely in August
and there is no rest, just a swelling,
rumbling something inward
to an outward
sense for journey, or

Is it even now, like then
sensing some urge to surge in roam
in August,
surely in August,
touching a skitterish flank,
some restless limbs
sense a scent on the wind
the Mariah wind

rumbling outward an
inward sense for passage

onto some other plain

when the horses

or a woman

listens.

loved the image effect of the horses, free and wild running on the wind
very spiritual...paranormal...loved this

oh the restless wind
we know is the wayward wind
she yearns to wander
destiny whistles therein
will she give ear to the call

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

this...this takes all of what the coming season of fall does to me, and puts it artfully into one of the best poems I have read...sigh...and it makes me cry...as fall always does.....

You touch the withers of mood in both horse and woman so skillfully and tenderly...

There is no doubt that both the horses
and the woman are listening....Women
always have a sense that takes them to
a different plane...one that men do not
share.

I'm going to pull out yesterday's paper to see that was about!  Wonderful poem.  Wonder what the horses are sensing.  They do get skittish before a storm.  I smiled to read it.

Karilea, you know the title captured my attention. Then hoofbeats thundered across a big screen...and left me standing quietly on the plains with a herd of listeners shaking their heads in awe.

Such a powerful poem, Sunshine! Such regal animals, horses are very august, indeed.  What is it about the 8th month that makes one want to thow her heart and head to Mariah (God speak) winds and fly?

This is gorgeous work.

G'day Karilea.  Rather interesting reflections.  Some say a full moon has a similar effect.

Thank you, for
the comments that you have left here,
in the hoofprints of this story,
have been laid in gold,
for this has become a poem
of heart
and sense.

Listen to your senses, listen
to the storms...

listen.
