Lonesome Soul

18 August 2006

At night there was quiet
that place to sleep alone
The radio a companion
but company for what

To love an ounce
yet want a kilogram or more
To want a ton, yet accept
the tone of an unknown voice

The words of a song
the voice singing a stranger
This night of loneliness
was that what God made

For what of morning and sunshine
does reign come from the heart
When a stranger was nothing more
than a lonesome soul, sleeping

The ounce (abbreviation: oz) is the name of a unit of mass in a number of different systems,
including various systems of mass that formed part of English units, Imperial units, and
United States customary units. Its size can vary from system to system. The most
commonly used ounces used today are the international avoirdupois ounce and the
international troy ounce.

The gram (Greek/Latin root grámma) symbol g, is a unit of mass. Originally defined as the
mass of 1 cubic centimetre of water at 4°C but now taken as the one one-thousandth of
the SI base unit kilogram, or 1×10−3 kg, a mass preserved by the International Bureau of
Weights and Measures. It was the base unit of mass in the original French metric system
and the later centimetre-gram-second (CGS) system of units.

1 ounce (avoirdupois) = 28.349523125 grams
1 ounce (troy) = 31.1034768 grams
