The August winds gather way over there
planning and plotting to clear the air
for seasons decree yet another review
of love and it’s reason for being.

But in the midst of this gathering
one stands with a heart of gold
too hard to be chipped or swayed
by forces dismissive and flippant ~
and the majority rise up angry,
too angry to be amenable,
and the world erupts into chaos.

Such is the way of these August days
that decide the future for my offspring
and theirs and theirs in thought waiting
for a chance to become physical.

I’m angry today because I cannot say
what the force of no love can do
but I wait as one overpowered
until like a leaf off an old Oak tree
I become as if I was not!

Me, too, Helen....why is it so hard to love.  Makes me ponder if it is easier to hate.....and that just doesn't equate....gosh.  I guess it has to do with that little word, "forgiveness."  The world sure could use some of that, my friend.  *hugs*.....jo

I'm thinking recent events might have inspired this....

but my dear poetess...know this, they can take our land, our loved ones, our children, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives...dignity, but they cannot and will not, ever take our minds...our souls and all the love we have known...and maybe dear heart, that is what memory is for...

heartbreaking poem all to real, and yet, done with excellence.
