Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

remember?

I hear you at the oddest times
and your face comes to me in my dreams
I smile as I see you

you clutched your chest and sang
a high soprano, the vibrato wavering
as I bent over in laughter
and you mocked mom's opera
how did you grow those gargantuan breasts
that I saw in your body language
as your eyes laughed back at me

remember?

all the crooked braids I wore to school
because you knew how to braid
and I didn't.
and the time you pulled the tail off
my loved stuffed fox.I still have him
but I don't have you
do you think the fox had the last laugh
or do you think he misses you like I do?

remember?

tents made in the dark, sharing candy,
sneaking comic books for lazy Sundays
and racing our bikes faster, faster, fastest.

you were afraid of the dark, and I bravely
walked with you outside at night to get wood
but no one walked me, wanna know a secret?
I was afraid too.
but the hold over you was greater than the fear.

remember?

drifting apart and growing up we stopped sharing
stolen cigarettes and secrets that made us giggle
instead moving on to less fun things
like responsibility.Well, you did.
I swore never to grow up
and I have tried hard not to.

you shot a fireweed at me, it arced under the sun
like a spear covered in delicate pink blossoms
and you grinned ~ I love you ~ you said
and you were gone.

remember?

I refuse to think those were the last words
I’ll see you again and until then

I will remember.

filled with visuals that took me by the hand and pulled me right into a walk in your shoes.  Very well done.

And I will appreciate more memories
of this love in your life, m'dear.

Write on, and give her the due
she deserves.

Just like a walk in your mind ...
one I'll always remember, too

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

I want to make my mom and her sister read this. So many stories they have both told me about such a great childghood together- Now they don't speak.
I think everyone needs to remember those people who really meant and mean the most in their lives.
Beautful...full of truth and sadness, but truly beautiful.
