Writin's A Waste of My Time
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

With pen squeezed tightly twixt fingers,
I stare blankly at the naked white page,
Loose fragments of notions 'n images,
Toss about in my mind’s steel cage.

I've got dribs, 'n bits, 'n mem'ries,
And lots of gobblygoook.
Writin' must be for the gentility,
~'Cause I sure cain’t write me no book!

I caint’ string two words together,
~ Not even with a filament line!
The words get away like the fishes.
~This writin’s a waste of my time!

::nods::   LOL
You KNOW I relate to this one.
But... As John Lennon once said...

how I long to read your words
time well spent methinks

Thanks for the giggles, my friend. I
sure can relate to these words.
YOUR words, however, are never a
waste of my time and I always look
forward to readin' 'em!

Hope you're doing okay! It's not
easy, that's for sure!

Love ya, Marti

Marvellous Marti ~

Hi there, girlfriend! I always enjoy hearing from you. I have edited this poem so much, that you wouldn't recognize it if you were to read it again!!!

Some poems flow ~ and some poem are downright work! lol

Yes, I am doing fine. Each day has its blessings and it so-called curses, but overall everything is okey dokey. I trust you are managing better now with the loss of your  mother. Sometimes I feel a bit like an orphan. Losing two parents in 4 weeks is a real mind blower. But I am coping and there are wonderful new horizons before both you and me!

Love you!

Oh I like this!  So many wonderful people I have known have been more eloquent with their lives than their words.

It is never a waste of time to write as we never know what will come out.  Try to write and you always get a realization that helps you or someone else.

Personally, I think you have done rather
well.  The picture and the poem, particularly
how it is written...go very well together

Keep writing Kiddo, youze gots duh touch.

If your caliber of writing is a waste of
your time, then my humble writing must be
for the pidgins, ha,
To convey so poetically that you cannot
write a lick, is an amusing contradiction. A great poem. =)

(angel friendship hugs) Oh Linda, I understand ever so much how you feel here, because when I first joined Passions before you joined, I was very shy as I always am when I start out somewhere for the first time, and can be oversensitive, and because I commented a lot and still almost never got more than five replies for any poem, it broke my heart as though my voice wasn't valued, and several times I felt barely anyone cared about my writing and I made posts suggesting this was my last poem and I was leaving, but then when I posted a depressing poem that expressed those feelings of rejection and isolation titled "Jaded", it received much supportand begging for me to stay, and I received many friendly e-mails and somehow my poetry received much more response after that! (hugs) Now in recent months I don't have that much time to comment on dozens of poems every day and such like I used to, which has heavily affected my response numbers, but all the same I'm comfortable about myself now and am not overly concerned with numbers of responses or how my poems size up with others in terms of quality or such, because though many of my poems might only receive five or fewer response in recent months, I also occasionally get poems that receive ten or more responses, and whenever that happens I KNOW that that poem touched hearts in a most special way, as did my sympathy poem I wrote for you and poems like "Pisceans Sure Know How To Kiss", and that sends a most warm-hearted message to me, yay! (hugs) God Bless You, dearest friend, I believe writing can influence and change the world, and you certainly touch us in ways you may never immediately recognize, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

My goodness, Noah, you could have blown me over with one of your angel feathers when I saw so many of my posts staring me in the face this morning! I tend to forget my poems as soon as I write them, so I was surprises at a few of them and had to read them again.

Like you, posting is not a numbers game to me ~ and I never know how a poem will be received. The one's I think are fairly decent ~ bomb! But on the other hand, my little insignificant ones can go off the charts. I wouldn't want bet on my poetry if it was a horse race!

This poem is about a curmudgeon who wants to write but he feels inept at trying to do so. If only he would persevere, he could write of his views, visions, and memories. Poetry requires a heart and a desire to share that heart with others. It is the message that is important, not the form or techniques used.

Love & Light,
Linda

Ha!!!! LOL You just wanted to give us a chance to tell you how much your writin' means to us... how many times it's been in front of my eyes just in time... how I'd crawl around gathering your pencil stubs if I thought the magic was in them and not you. *S* Right??? LOL

Enjoyed this very much!
