As always, I am running late
no time to find my shoe's lost mate

The dryer's eaten all my socks
My hair's a mess of curly locks

I put my clothes on in the dark
(The lightbulb blew with pretty sparks)

My contacts - well, they're such a pain
Lost a blue one down the drain

The remaining pair is forest green
But color doesn't matter, I can see!

I thought if quick, I could get done
and write for Toe a funny poem

But I am late, so late, you see
There's no time for frivolity

Finally ready to run into the day
My daughter is giggling, and to my dismay

There in the light, it's plain to see
My pants are some kinda red/purple paisley

The shirt I chose without benefit of light
Is an eye popping yellow, I thought it was white!

My shoes, which felt like they fit rather odd,
are one purple pump, and a black leather clog

And so ends my colorful excuse
why I'm late, wearing lemon and puce

and why my hair is such a mess
with unmatching shoes, and sockless

one eye blue, and one eye green
-- a technicolor catastrophe

So, this is why I'm late, ya know,
For this challenge sent by Toe

You're not late, you're on Toe's schedule. IN FACT, you're dressed just right for Toe!

Oh me oh my! This sounds too real! I have actually worn two different colored shoes to work;

LarryC - I'm dressed just right? hmm, I thought from all the other descriptions of Toe's kinda women that I've seen on these boards, that I'd have to be toothless, chugging jug o'moonshine & have corn husks in my hair to be "just right" *smiles angelically*

Ethel - why, thankies kindly (it's almost true too .. but I don't own paisley pants lol)

zi - why yesh, i was wearing that yesterday .. you know you think i'm sexah! I've seen ya drooling -- at least I have the good sense not to tuck my skirt in my panties *nods* (I couldn't find them either)

misc - glad ya got a chuckle .. I see how y'all are, laughing at my expense while I'm stuck going out looking like some kinda psychotic patchwork insanity *grins*

Klassy - well .. hm .. you have a point ... staying nekkid would have definitely been the better option, but I may have gotten arrested streaking around the city :-p

Toe - I think maybe after that outfit, 'divinely psychotic" would be more fitting .. lol ..

Linda -- glad you enjoyed! *grins* I'm the master (mistress?) of excuse making lol (from always being late hehe)

suthern -- at times I think I should get points for making it out of bed without knocking myself out when the alarm blares in my ears and feet get tangled in the sheets ... nevermind actually being dressed!

Interloper -- sounds like Toe may be my neighbor here in Redneck Central .. where formal wear is jeans without holes in them, and foreplay is 'lay still, ain't nobody coming' *grins*
