Out Making Anticlines

Downsized

It would be
so much simpler
to move into
one room of
my house

I think I
could do that,
drag necessities
down the hall,
throw things away,
scrap plants
and knick-knacks
crowd the rest

I might get used
to the cramp
in time;
make it home
in a way
anyway

But tell me
how to do this,
how to start:
What portion of
my soul must
I throw away?
What part of
my spirit can
I salvage, force
together, crowd
down into what is left
and make a home
in less of you?
How will I ever
press my love
into this
smaller,
this
less?

What a powerful, poignant plea!!!

Your "weeds" are hard to read because they epitomize hurt... but they should be required reading because they epitomize fantastic poetry. *S*
