(this is as humorous as I can manage, Toe! *S*)

Out Numbered!!

My home was a place of sorrow and grief
I tried and I tried, but could get no relief
I’d lost entirely too much, felt too alone
And echoes of emptiness chilled to the bone

Then a stray cat showed up at my back door
I offered him food, but he wanted more…
Seems he had a friend, she was hungry, too
And I could see why – She was eating for two!

Or so I thought… *sigh*  I became quite attached
To my new furry friends – though they’re so mismatched
He’s like a beautiful jaguar, sleek ebony
And moves with such grace as he comes to meet me

On the other hand, she has a paint job gone bad
With bits of most cat colors that could be had –
She’s white spotted with cream, with brown ears and tail
Some gray tabby splotches – and shaped like a whale!

Both were determined to get in my house
But I kept them at bay, though I felt like a louse
So many times I shoved and grumbled “get back!”
That I named her JoJo… and called her friend Jack

(as in… hit the road! *G* Neither of them listened)

She looked like she’d swallowed a volleyball
With enormous tummy, though she was quite small
Then, after a storm, she chose my patio
To give birth to her kittens… one… two… three… OH!!!

She had SEVEN babies, each one black and white
And decided my patio wasn’t quite right
For her and her brood, so I let her inside
To give whatever aid I might could provide

You guessed it… I got hooked… Those babies are sweet!
Just to watch them grow is incredible treat
Now nine cats call my home their own feline heaven –
Jack and JoJo and the magnificent seven!

One thing’s for sure, since the kittens were born
I don’t sit around moping, I’ve no time to mourn!
There’s feedings and play time and trips to the vet,
And little soft purrs that help me forget

All the marvelous chaos will soon settle down –
I’ll find homes for the babies, they won’t be around…
Or maybe they will… at least one or two…
For I kinda like living in such a zoo!!! *S*

SuthernGal~

You stepped up to the plate
to make ToeRag's day
now you'll be giving kittens away
or better yet
SELL 'EM ON eBAY !!

They would most likely
fetch a pretty penny
but if they ALL sold
you wouldn't have any ...
so keep a couple of those kitties
but remember to
keep Jack away from JoJo ...
or you'll be going through
this all over again ...
OH ... wait ... send TOE one
now THAT would give him a GRIN~

You is da' cat's meowwww !

Ruthie,
No, sweet lady, cats have nine lives! Sounds like litter box hell to me. See what that soft heart gets you...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

With a heart the size of yours to love 'em, that crowd is in the right place....and when it's time to give them away, it's a cinch that some folks are going to inherit kitties that will have them bragging about how sweet their new little friends are....

Hello sweet Suthern lady,
Now, you have written of something close to my heart, too.
I love my little family here. I have my Scooter
still and my 2 little kitties. Well, they were
a year old this month, but so sweet. I treat them
like babies too. LOL

Love your poem, Ruthie.  Gotta go look for Toe's challenge.
Hugs,
Ethel

You have written here a chapter of my life this past year!

I took in a stray that turned out to be pregnant with seven little ones. I had eight cats running around until they were old enough to give away. How many do I have now? EIGHT!!!

Ain't that easy to let them go...so I suffer.

now I know where to drop my horny male cats off, you'll never notice 2 more, right? (or several more eventually, depending on how 'generous' the boys are feeling) *grins*

very cute!

Suthern, I love this. I would love to see LJA, again. But, hey, I still have my kitty dungeon. And, I know he doesn't want to spend any time there. I, now, have 1000's of kitties. LOL! So, he better be on his best behavior.

Warning to LngJhnAg “The Kitty Kicker”

I have thought this over very carefully
I am sending my private detective
To your neck of the woods
He will be watching you everyday
If he sees you kick another kitty
He will take you to my kitty dungeon
With you this detective will have no pity

Because Nan and I are kitty lovers
The dungeon is filled with vengeful kitties
You will be tied to a post “feet and all”
These kitties will crawl all over you
Licking you on the face and bitting your nose
They will sit on top of your head
While nibbling on your ear

You will have no shoes on your feet
So they will climb down from your shoulders
Sticking their claws into you skin
Until they get all the way down to your feet
One by one they will nibble on your toes
Not one will have any pity on you
When they start tickling your feet

luminosity: Mom and Pop are both in the doghouse these days... Mom because she wants a permanent Mother's-day-out and the kittens aren't quite old enough for that yet... and Pop because he didn't just spray.... he sprayed ME!!! LOL I'm not sure who he's trying to impress, but that wasn't his best move. LOL Thanks for reading... and I'll look forward to puppy pics! *S*

James: What a kind assessment of the situation... you're a dear! *S* Thank you so much! And I hope you're right... they're so sweet... they deserve great homes! *S*

Interloper: ROFL... I'm not sure who'd be more upset... Toe or his dog! LOL Thank you!

Pilgrimage: How true that is. *S* Thank you so much! *S*

garysgirl: Cosette was my baby all her life... and she lived 14 and a half years. *S* I hope these little guys have such luck. *S* Thank you!!

Balladeer: How well I know, my friend... how well I know. *S* I was supposed to be getting an adult female Persian.. but the owner could tell by my voice I was falling in love with the kittens... and made other arrangements for the Persian. *G* I have to place most of these, though... my lease only allows 2 pets... and I can't afford the $35 per day per over-the-limit-pet should they catch me with this mob! LOL Thank you! *S*

Lassy: That they do. *S* But the smiles and love they give are more than worth any efforts involved. *S* (I say this BEFORE I have to face saying goodbye... I'll be singing a different tune when those little lights go out of my life *S*) Thank you!

chaos: Don't even think of it!!! LOL I have to slide instead of step as it is! *G* Thank you!

SmartChick: That's telling him!!! *S* Thank you so much... I enjoyed your poem immensely! *S*
