Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

I Walked Down to the River

I walked down to the river to see where it goes
down past the islands and the heavy spruce groves
It flowed past the houses, the boats and the cars
right by the beaver dam and the gravel sand bars.

I can see that the river flows all the way to the sea
joining high, crashing waves that could bring you to me

I walked down to the river to see where it comes from
watched it carrying logs and some trash in the foam
The water it swirled and made patterns at my feet
the sand warmed my toes and was soft under my seat.

I walked down to the river with tears wetting my face
gazed into the murky waters to gain my sense of place
It sang me a love song about all the things it has seen
my eyes opened wide with wonder, my mind filled with dreams.

I walked down to the river with my heart in my hands
thinking the distance was more than I could possibly stand.
It took me a moment for my mind to open and see
that feelings can be blinders, keeping truth far from me

I can see that the river flows all the way to the sea
and if I look hard enough I see your love reaching to me.

nothing offensive to me, but why is the narrator crying? the tears seem to come out of nowhere.

The river flows to the Sea which leads to the Oceans seperating two who love each other.  She walks to the river, seeing the beauty around her but lonely for the person she longs to be with.  However, then she sees that instead of it being a barrier, it leads her to him.  Anyway, that's it in a nutshell.  The Cliff Notes of my poem.

Thanks for asking.

Oh Aziza! No explanation is needed here. This is lovely, and the tears are well-spent.
