Word Taster

I can taste words.
They linger on the tip of my tongue
and have flavors that range
from baklava-sweet to a bittery lime.
Sometimes when I drive I yearn
for one more hand so I can capture
the thoughts flittering in my head
-- this is the time I compose
my best essays, speeches and haiku.
Words.
I can feel them.
Sometimes, I am not even aware
that they are in my thoughts
-- they just weave through my day.
I have found a way to express art with words.
I am not a Master Painter
I am a dabbler
-- but I dabble happily
as I see things around me,
and realize that I am looking
at the beauty with words.
I drove under a blanket of fog yesterday.
I had never really seen a blanket of fog
with the fog about six feet above me.
It created a tunnel
and I tried to capture
the image with words.
In my head, not on paper.
I knew that the fog was flirting with the ground
-- almost there but just out of reach.
And I felt it all in words.
I feel emotions in words.
They are sharp sometimes,
like barbs piercing my skin.
Or sometimes they are a light caress,
teasing my desires and needs.
Words are my senses.
They are my expression.
Words are my beauty.
They are my art.

Oh aziza! This is just one more reason why I look specifically for your name in posts. This is utterly fabulous.
