how much better
it is

Yet, we do.

Because it is better
to let some things out
that other things
might come
in.

LOL and I can't figure out if that's why I'm not writing at all these days or if it's just that I don't have it in me right now because what I once wrote about is no longer there...so I post an oldie now and then

good stuff Ed

I've been worried about it lately, seeing myself as going flat, getting into a pattern that has me writing certain kinds of thing because, well, I write certain kinds of thing....and not branching out the way I should.

Poetry's biggest aim is to make words be the most they can be, not to make them be "just-so".....and to express all that's in us, not a limited range of notions or patterns we repeat out of habit.

Sometimes I feel like I'm writing the same things over and over...the thoughts gaining maturity...perhaps...James

I have heard it said by published, but "retired" poets: "I don't write poetry anymore.  There is nothing more to write about."
For them it must be true.
How do they know?
Is it all just a state of mind?
Is it a peculiar function of the brain that can be turned off?
The pen lays itself down one day?

The pen may be mightier than the sword....but if you fall upon your pen, it's usually because your heart has already stopped beating.....

Wow !    I am most certainly guilty of this.
I don't know if the voice of this muse can be turned off...
But I am experimenting on whether or not it can be drowned.

Well, Jim Beam at 3 am won't do it, I'm dead certain of that....only makes it worse!

Ed...I've been searching for my voice, I think it's cracked a bit now, but I know somewhere its song is beautiful to hear...I'm going to write it somehow!

Sometimes rhyming in time is the crime in itself ...
but to find the time to rhyme one might overhear the chime,
miss it at sometime, and later redefine each line ...

     ... me, I just punt!!

glad to know I am not the only and lonely!!

Pause for thought, yes.  And wonder if I never write again, will I ever learn to recognize the echoes of my heart.  Writing seems to take on a life of it's own at times.  I just keep trying to define it by my own faulty vision.

"The pen may be mightier than the sword....but if you fall upon your pen, it's usually because your heart has already stopped beating....."  That in itself is a poem.  I think my pen has stopped beating, too.

LOL... You're never guilty of such sins, but oh... Such truth you write! *S* There are times when I feel I'm stuck with a coloring book of one image printed over and over... I can use different colors but the picture's still the same... and exceedingly boring after the first 2 or 3 glimpses! *G*
