(This is a new song I wrote, thinking of our dearest Linda ever so much this past month, in her time of emotional loss, as I can only begin to imagine at a young age how heartaching it must be to experience loss in such a short amount of time, but just the thought of imagining it makes me cry a lot, and these emotions inspired this sympathy song that deals on this universal experience of heartache and feeling from it!

God Bless You and your family, dearest Linda, you truly are our Earth Angel, and if you need anyone to talk too, we are all here for you! )

If Tears Could Build A Stairway
By: Noah Eaton
7/29/06

What if the stars are nothing but little embers,
pouring from the eyes of loved ones so we remember,
there is always love beyond the grave,
shining brightly teaching us to be brave,
smoldering like a sunbeam across my shoulder,
and you’re afraid to turn and glance over,
because staring through heaven’s fire can be blinding.
often we’re unwinding only to be reminding,
that love leaves a memory,
that can never be stolen…

If tears could build a stairway,
if prayers can make a bouquet,
can you feel through the break of day,
can I reach you from so far away,
show me no mercy,
wings were meant for rustling,
so children can learn how to listen,
to love on a mid-summer day,
and I feel I’ve finally understood in time,
living in hearts that are left behind…
…is never to die…

…there’s far more to love than sight…
.
.
.
.
.
My mother’s whispers sweep the kitchen floor,
like the wedding dress she wore when she turned twenty-four,
her grace was more perennial than a flower store,
her emotions went as deep as the ocean floor,
my father said he was rich as can be,
when I came running into his arms when they were empty,
he smiled as though each day was his 50th anniversary,
his heart is as fragrant as springtime in a nursery,
these are memories of love,
that can never be stolen…

If tears could build a stairway,
if prayers can make a bouquet,
can you feel through the break of day,
can I reach you from so far away,
show me no mercy,
wings were meant for rustling,
so children can learn how to listen,
to love on a mid-summer day,
and I feel I’ve finally understood in time,
living in hearts that are left behind…
…is never to die…

…there’s far more to love than sight…
.
.
.
Wearing my tears like jewelry,
time engraves my cheeks with those,
I have not yet weeped…

…and I can feel my soul,
bleeding inwardly…
.
.
.
…can you see the rainbows,
behind my eyelids,
expressing my silent language of lament…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
God can heal a broken heart,
but He has to have all the pieces to make it art,
each piece is like a tear dripping into the ocean,
and I feel I’m just going through the motions,
waiting until you say you’ve found them all,
like a star-crossed lover waiting on a phone call,
like a bright-eyed child in the sun…
.
.
.
.
.
If tears could build a stairway,
if prayers can make a bouquet,
can you feel through the break of day,
can I reach you from so far away,
show me no mercy,
wings were meant for rustling,
so children can learn how to listen,
to love on a mid-summer day,
and I feel I’ve finally understood in time,
living in hearts that are left behind...

...is never to die...
.
.
.
.
.

Dear sweet, Noah!

I feel blessed to have a friend such as you! As the saying goes, "Angels of a feather ~ flock together!" ~ Oh, oh! I think that is supposed to be birds!" Oh, well, YOU at least are an angel to me!

Noah, it would mean so much to me if you were able to email a sound file of you singing this song. The lyrics are so beautiful and I can only imagine how moving they would be with you singing them from your heart to mine.

I will treasure this treasure! Thank you so very much for this gift. It helps.

Love you!
Linda

A triumph; and a wonderful memorial to a soul unfortunately gone. I can only hope when my time comes, a friend will truly have such work at the podium.

my condolences for the Loss.

Noah,
Oh how I know the comfort of thoughts shared by such as yours. Well done and as I always am comforted by the following I found yours particularly meaningful:

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Noah, I went to revisit this post and discovered the I hadn't saved it. That shows you how out of it I was at that time. Losing both parents in 4 weeks was very traumatic.
I'm in a much better place now ~ and so are my parents!

Time and faith are wonderful healers.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this tender piece of yours.

With love,
Your friend,
Linda
