I can’t find someone
To read between-the-lines,
Much less the lines
Of this, my overly dramatic life
Filled with a cacophony
Of what-ifs
And will-you-be-there’s.
Not to mention, the please-don’t-hurt-me’s.

I’ve known too much.

And my wisdom is secured in bruises
That, remarkably,
match his handprint.
And rosy-red tracings of golden chain
Twisted tight.

“You have no God,” he said
whilst pulling and turning
this my crucifix.

The joke was on him

For my God gave me the strength
And the courage
To march away
Leaving him a breath
On a southward wind bound for Hell.

Sweet remorse
Freedom is just that.
Free, to go on
But still caught up
In a fisherman’s net of his words.

“Damaged goods, girl
That’s what you are.
Damaged goods”.

The mirrors left uncovered in this, my home,
Do nothing to dispute that assertion.
Do nothing to reassure.

And look into them deeply,
This I do,
And wonder if there will ever be
Someone to read between the lines.

There will always be someone
who will WANT to read
between these lines...

a good poem...
rant
weave of life...

keep writing.

I just say, "Bravo!"

... and if you are "damaged goods" who knew damaged goods were so fine!

This is what abusers do...they make our self worth decline so that we dont feel good about oursrelves but, ya know what...it IS THEY WHO HAVE A PROBLEM...they need to belittle us to make themselves feel better and that right there is clearly a problem! Great write could really feel this and relate in some ways too (((Hugs))) if they're ok

Peace and happiness to us all, Venus
