His Rose ~ Her Thyme

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As my dear Dad lies at death’s door,
~Slipping to land of Forevermore,
A Light is glowing above his head,
And down the length of his hospital bed.

My Mom just passed, four weeks ago,
And with her went ~half of Dad’s soul.
His will to live is slipping away,
~His pain so great, each passing day.

Romeo lost his Juliet.
They’d been in love since they first met.
Eager lovers in their mid teens,
I soon was born in meager means.

Though they were poor, they felt as kings.
~For love to them meant more than "things".
Love and family surpassed all gold,
~To live as one ‘til they grew old.

Romeo lost his Juliet.
They’d been in love since they’d first met.
Winds snuffed their flame before its time,
And blew away his rose, ~ her thyme.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Lee, yes, it is ever so sad. Two days ago, the doctors said that my Dad will most likely be gone within the next 24 to 48 hours. His life is hanging by a thread. He signed papers to stop his renal dialysis and to refuse all efforts to save his life. As you know, his bones are not mending from his fall and he is wracked with pain on every level of his being. He wants to be reunited with Mom (who passed four weeks ago)and is now slipping in and out of consciousness and is unable to speak. Words cannot express the sorrow that we have all been experiencing.

No matter what travesties that have befallen my family, we have all rallied around each other and managed to get through the difficult times. This time, however, my weary, broken father is ready to return Home and be reunited with his soul mate. God bless   both my Mom and Dad.

Thank you for your kind and compassionate response to my poem. There is a tear imbued in every word that I wrote.

Love & Eternal Light,
Linda

OhSweetEarthyOne~
It tears my heart to know of your pain~
I would pray that the angels of sweet mercy
come to take your father to both the beloved 'other half of his soul' and to the Father who waits to welcome him to the promises of life everlasting~

Know dear lady that I hold you and your loved ones in gentle prayer vigil~
May you feel the presence of our friendship that holds your tears~

Linda I am so sorry for what you are going through and have yet to endure.
I shall pray now for an easying passing for your Dad.
Your Mom is waiting for him just on the other side..
I know you understand this fully.
I believe he is ready to be reunited with his Juliet.

This is so incredibly sad. I'm only amazed that you've managed to draw something so beautiful and moving from such an awful experience. My heart goes out to you *hugs*

I have been so moved by this poem. I read it early this morning and it lingered with me all day.  You have shared a beautiful gift with us - the gift of your parent's love.  I know part of me will retain their legacy in a small corner of my memory banks.

Thank you and - please - know how much I am thinking of you.

Dear Linda,  I have been away for some time and am so distressed at not having been aware of the situation.  My heartfelt condolences to you and yours on the sad passing of both your parents but it seems that one without the other would not have been possible.  They have left love as their legacy and I know that it's been left in good hands.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love and hugs,

(angel friendship and sympathy hugs) Oh Linda, being as young as I am now, I can't even begin to relate to the experience of heartache you're enduring right now, but simply just imagining losing multiple loved ones, loved ones whom were a match made in heaven who are destined to love each other to eternity, breaks my heart as well and has made me cry here! (wipes tear) I don't know if it's just being a triple water sign or having a Moon in Cancer that makes me feel this emotional or close to family, but I truly believe these are universal emotions, and if anything I am happy I'm crying in sympathy here so you and everyone who have experienced loss can understand you are not alone and you are comforted! (wipes tear) God Bless You, dearest friend, the beauty here is that nothing can ever break that love that gleams so strong, shared by your mom and dad, and now they will forever be together, which that thought adds warmth and comfort to these tears I cry! (heart hugs) I'm always here if you need someone to talk to, dearest friend, we are all here, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Though I missed this poem until now, I have been with you through all of this in other communications.  However, the tears flow afresh reading through your poem and seeing the picture and reading all the replies.  You, your life and your poetry are a perfect tribute to your parents and your family.  Besides being so very, very sad for you, I am also so very, very happy for you (though this is probably the worst moment to choose to say so) and I envy you in the nicest possible way.

Light, love, prayers, strength, comfort and tears

I love you both! You have always been so kind to me.

I'm bunkered down in my basement. There is a tornadao watch. A few funnel clouds have been sited near our town. The skies are black and the winds are howling. It's so ominous!
