Painted smile
in pearled pink
belies the heartache
and who would think
for so much as a moment
there exists any pain
when chameleon eyes
look serene.

brick by brick
fortress built
heavy stone mortared
by fear once felt
before an altar of memories
I wordlessly knelt
saying one more prayer for you.

Ripple laughter
falls from lips
that defies one and all
just try to kiss
their tender flesh
kept 'neath lock and key
trapped forever
in memory.

brick by brick
fortress grows tall
day after day
perfecting the wall
that guards this poor heart
from days long ago
still, I say one more prayer,
just for you.

Sometimes, it seems that a prayer
is all we can give.

They have to take it from there.

Thank you for your large heart.

*leaves lots of hugs*
while reading this,
I felt like our hearts
paused together for
just a moment
for that
'one more prayer'
just for them

this aches...there are no words that express the pain I feel with this...

This is so lovely and so poignane.  I think most of us have a wall issue. Maybe it's why we write so much.  Such a good poem.

Thank you.
