On A Journey To The Unknown

After All These Years

Being so young, when we met
I was unaware of the signs
Words were all that were said
Enough to always make me cry

Then, when we tied the knot
It got even worse for me
I didn't dare go anywhere, or
You gave me the third degree

You held a knife on me
Causing me  so much fear
The pain you always gave
Brought a lot of tears

While carrying a child inside
You threw me against the wall
Causing me to start bleeding then
Losing my baby and all

When I quit my job that time
You beat me black and blue
Still, you wondered why it was
I was so afraid of you

I didn't dare turn my attention
To anyone or anything else
It had to be given all to you, or
Pay a dear price myself

You did all you could do
To cut me off from society
With not even a telephone
For anyone to call me

You locked me in the house
So I couldn't even leave
Silently, I planned a way
To some day set myself free

Those wedding vows were said
You took them all for granted
The love you claimed to feel
Was hard to comprehend

Even after thirty three years
Those memories never leave
For once in a while they still
Come back again to haunt me

Such a cleansing emote~
It's easy to see how and why your life is so much better without one who would cause you so much pain~

ONWARD ... FORWARD ... to the light of no fear~

There is no way on God's green earth I will ever come to understand the wretched mentality of an abusive person.  I have been talking to a girl(17) on line who just lost her baby because her boyfriend beat her.  She's been a victim of all kinds of abuse since she was 9 years old.  I guess the closest explanation is illness, but there is no excuse for the hatred that people commit in the name of love--or God, for that matter. Your poem stirs deep feelings.  I sincerely hope your life is much better these days and that there is healing.   ~ Klassy

I think that there has been a lot of healing.  It takes a lot to say this happened and it was wrong.  Wishing you joy,
SmartChick!

Your healing shows in all that you continue to write.

SmartChick,

This was a very good expression of your inner emotions...I hope with time, the pain will lesson. You were very smart for getting out of such a traumatic situation.

Bless you,
Kris

Sue...I am so proud of you...
You have come so far!!
Sending heart hugs to you!

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

So happy for you that these events are set back to memory lane Sue, even though they're popping up once in a while to haunt you.

All the more reason to be grateful for what you have achieved today. It may not be perfect yet, but it's a hell of a lot better than it was before.

You're a strong woman Sue, my respects!!

Hugs, Titia
