Twilight was never closer to me,
Nor was it dearer to me,
Than this eve,
Falling at the pace
Of a winter’s snowstorm.
And memory serves to keep me company.
Images of sun-baked lawns,
Gardens bedecked in autumns
Most brilliant shades of rust and gold,
Dandelions making their way up
Through virgin lawn,
All the while
You were holding my hand.

Twilight was never so sacred to me
As it is now
That you are no longer here to share in it
To wonder at it
To marvel at it’s awe evoking magnificence.
So I shall stand here alone,
Under a sky painted in azure and violet,
I shall find that one perfect star,
Just beginning to show itself
In the slow approaching ebon,
And I shall wish
That you have found the peace you sought
The rest you deserved.
And stand here I will,
Forever and a day,
In the twilight.
