                     POOF !
(  When an Old Roadrunner Becomes Wile E. Coyote )
              *****************

Dionysus
whispered in my ear

"Go Orpheus"

and I obeyed.

Last night,
my music charmed
the underworld.

This morning,
I laid in the dark

beneath the wagon

and shielded my eyes
from the sharp, piercing
daggers of the sun.

I was not thrown
from Mount Olympus.

I fell just short of Hades.

It was only a plunge

from the height
of twelve steps

nevertheless,
the impact was
great and painful.

Now,
I wait...

for the dust
to settle...

When I can witness

or receive reports
of the damages.

I like it 'cause I like it too Uriah... or is it Wile E Coyote today?

I loved this piece!!!!! It was so oddly written and constructed, but the language was stark and powerful, and quite humourous at the same time. It had a stream-of-consciousness feel to it that I loved, AND references to Greek myth! Perfect!

Where black, bleeding roses await the Thirteen,
I see not the stars, but the darkness between

Thank you all for taking time to read and comment.

Yes Lady...  I was Wile E. Coyote most of the day.   I finally located the straps of my Acme rough-outs and pulled myself back up.  ::smiles::

loved the entire poem, however, this reigns first and foremost

"It was only a plunge

from the height
of twelve steps"

and yes, dialogue is simply one component of the narrative
