I sit here wondering,
what is in your heart,
how you can just keep wandering.
when you said we'd never part.

I say we're growing as a family,
you turn tail and run,
to think I wasted so much energy.
but truely your no man.

Now I look into his eyes,
so bright and innocent,
his strength is such a suprise.
and when I look at MY son I see your absent.

I wonder what he'll be,
I hope he learns not to treat others so bad,
and he'll be more like me.
than his non existant Dad.

I want to teach him so much more,
then you'll see
What parents are truely for.

An absent father can't help but leave a void in his children's lives, but if they are raised well they can still overcome that void. And I pray that they do...

Ah Danie~This is so very sad..
a situation that happens way too often.
Heart hugs, Nancy

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

I have been going through my poems and realize that I write to release what I feel at that place and time.  It's my way to move on.  I think it may be yours too.  You write with a lot of power and you show so much of the woman you are.

Thank you.

I'm listening to "Dani California" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the song really complements the poem. The poem can stand on its feet alone, but the song is nice with it. I know this has nothing to do with anything but I just thought I would tell you, ha. Kudos

I'm not smart, I'm just a tricky dumb person.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I do write from the heart and it is true that fathers leave an empty space I was raised without my dad and I always thought something was missing until I found him in 1992. Then he relented to the cancer and is up in heaven with my granddad and fishin and tellin stories about the war and trains they both ran. My son is doin great heart wise but is havin health issues and we hope he will be healthy. He is 5 now and is the size of a 3 yr old. But, I will have to tell you about that another time.

Thank you all, Danie
