Lebanon

Between two lines of crimson red
A cedar stands most strong
On flag flown for the bombed and dead
Where war’s gone on too long
And white the peaks and white the sand
Above the line of blue
Befallen by united lands
Who’ve kept Israelis true
Till ‘truthful promise’ sworn to man
To swap for captured three
Led to a ‘just reward’ so planned
That nations could agree
That while Iran instilled their plan
That strong and battered tree
‘Tween Hezb'Allah and IDF
Should burn incessantly
They’d build “A” bombs while Lebanon’s
Abhorred by you and me.

My opinion,
Lighthouse Bob

BRAVO!!!

Lighthousebob-that really needs to be said. A graceful, subtle, yet clear reminder of the families caught in REAL terror, every living moment. I won't get into my political opinions, as it's perhaps not appropriate in this forum, but I have to say; I'm shocked and abhorred about Israel's complete lack of diplomacy. (An eye for an eye stains beyond the borders, and pre-emptive air strikes on civilians is  just wrong/bad... perhaps even evil.)

I feel ashamed to sit here in comfort while my equals suffer so much, yet feel torn through my ignorance of the whole history. Your poem swipes away the clutter of spin, and gently sings the truth.

Thank you!

i cant think of anything other than righteous

Hollow heroes seperate as they run...Shadows linger in your pain dead and done

My Dear Friend BOB,
How current and intriguing your take and poetic commentary on Lebanon, and the perpetual heartbreak of hatred which so mars the place of the Cedars.

Very insightful-about the very sad,

Hoping, dear Bob, that the International Conference on Lebanon which will be held in Rome on Wednesday, will unite leaders who really WANT peace.

Thank you for your insightful poem.

May no men ever hate to the point of being insensitive to innocence.

Love,
Margherita

Bob...In Lebanon, there is a teenage boy offering solace of shelter and nourishment of several kinds, to both sides.

Thank you so very very much for all of your most kind replies and I want you to know that you have all touched my heart deeply with your concern for Lebanon and her citizens who are once again suffering so extremely much loss and pain at the hands of war.

God bless.

-Bob
