I want to see fox faes dancing
(but I click on the news)
I want to smell carnations and roses
(but the garbage truck rolls by my window)
I want to wake to the sounds of birds chirping
(and I do, thanks to my pair a keets)
I want to smell the smell of Peace
(but my nostrils flare with despair)
I want to know there is Hope
(may she return from a long vacation)

I want to see the fox faes dancing,
even if only in my mind.
So I put a whimsical picture on my desktop,
then write myself a giant sticky note:

"Stay away from the news"

I love your poem, Kacy. However, the news today was full - well, nearly full - of Madiba's (Nelson Mandela's love-name) 88th birthday! So I didn't stay away from that part of the news today.
