Heat Wave

In the cinnabar
the air curves
female in a silent request
of damp strands
yearning for wet sand
and the thunder of an ocean face
needing all her pieces
displaced

Love this, Martie.  Just came in from weeding the very needy garden.  Man, is it ever hot here, but guilt got the best of me and I withstood the heat.  Your description is perfect!  Especially can identify with the wet strands about now!

You write 'yearning' very well.  Wishing you a cool breeze...

Oh yeah ... it's not just a 'tropical heatwave' either~

I just read that yesterday ALL 48 lower states recorded at least 90 degrees and 21 of those states recorded 100 (+/-)

Attsa' hotsie~

Loved your poem, Martie.  I could feel the heat, in spite of it being winter here!

you can have my cold weather and the snow on the mountain outside my window

then no doubt it will be hot as hell in my world come Christmas Day

You said it Martie!
As EA replied it's even in the 90's in the great white north.

it is SO hot here...

that I don't even turn on
my AC for the drive home...

truly!

It's not that far...
and by the time I would get home
it would just be kickin' in...

might as well let the clear sharp
of the air edge me warm...

just so, I think, to say I know
what it's like to be near
the sun.

Great poetry Martie, as usual. I'm glad I popped in, despite the heat over here.
