The End Of An Era

I have cried you rivers, and run dry,
even while standing in the pouring rain
looking at you, wondering who you are
and it hit me like a runaway train...

damn, we got old quick.

I realized how much I left behind me,
how enormous the sacrifices were,
the dreams I could never call my own,
years of memories fade to blur...

I was never good at dying.

So here it is, just before the dawn,
it's always darkest then, they say,
let me grieve the end of an era,
a love that was never meant to stay.

Just look toward the beautiful sunrise Dixie!
~Hugs and luv, Nancy~

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

damn, we got old quick.

How true this is Dixie, one moment young and then twenty years have passed.

I enjoyed your words here dear friend, releases not just you but many who feel and have gone through the same. Have a wonderful day my friend and take care.

Sincerely
Rick

I like your spirit, Dixie!  Look to the sunrise, and with or without another love, there is beauty out there to inhale with every breath.

each new beginning
comes from another
beginning's end

I think that's a line of a song
and it's so true.
I'm glad you're coming
to your new beginning
and that you're sharing
the journey with us
*hugs*

I like the line breaks for

Damn, we got old quick.

I was never good at dying.

It really makes you stop and slowly digest those lines! Very nice.

They tried to tell us
it would go this fast...
but we were young and foolish...
and blinked without believing...

a very good write, Dixie.

and I love that time of early morning..
Lady, this was passion, a canvas of great understanding...

bittersweet
well done!!!!
