panic, in a white room
on a day who's name we never registered.
coated top to bottom in a generic glaze that
peels back to show the same dirt that ruined our sheets back home.
black crayon spiralsm drawn with clenched fists tag every wall
and all end with mnemomic arrows aimed straight for the floor.
these girls, they spin under florescant lights
and are left in dizzied heaps of skin and bones and painted lips.
on their lips they speak of then, or even of tomorrow
but with each pause the cracks etch deeper
and the roads they speak of fail to carry them away.
with shining eyes that rival glass,
they invite you to visit
but are vieled in black before heat is allowed to escape.
i dreamt a savior from another's life
and her chamomile words slipped through my fingers
"baby doll, chin up and shoot sky high,"
her face kept changing and the stars kept shifting.
the voices blended then broke,
but the girls that should have died in place
sat neatly folded into chairs to watch the play.
how fast they move within a twelve-foot world.
she's wrapped tightly in sheets to keep them out
or to hold herself in.
"she's here, with us, it's okay"
the panic of the room, which held nothing to confuse the girls,
twisted all the same
and our baby's lips were torn apart
as her eyes threatened to shatter.
that scrawled bedroom art shook and frightened,
while our saviors sat near, but went unbothered
and heads cracked against the window sills.
these girls, they always find a way to red their lips
white room or not.

This is so visual.  I know I will be back to read it again.  I like it, but there is a lot to it.  I liked reading it out loud. It has a flow.

Thank you.

when i was writing this, my head was going in ten thousand different directions at one time, all relating back to basically the same thing. i tried to tie it all together as best i could, im not sure how obvious it is though
