"The Soldier of the Night"

Standing tall among the flames
the shadowed man bared his teeth
staring holes through the wall
with a glare far worse then death

Tensely clenching fists of fury
he paced with hatred on his mind
muscles taunt and shaking darkly
with veins flowing with tainted blood

His dog tags hanging around his neck
reminding him of his deadly past
his eye sight training to his pants
stained with lies on the camoflauge

The simple soldier used and abused
just a weapon to his government
in denial of pain they caused
their plans had imploded with a spark

And straight from the belly of the beast
he came with vengance at full force
for today this tool is back again
rising from the depths of Hell**

So now they'll see his ice cold gaze
and menacing form marked with ink
representing the damned left behind
here stands Captain Jerome Dugrey

**Religous definition of word, not profanity's definition**

its a shame thats how our oh so wonderful president sees our soldiers, expendable nothings to him

Hollow heroes seperate as they run...Shadows linger in your pain dead and done

Should I revere or revile?  In my opinion: very well written.

Thank you!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'd have to agree with you Snowflake in the point you made about Bush thinking of our troops as...playthings...Sure he could say all the positive things about the war, but in the end of the day look at what is happening. I guess I kind of consider myself slightly on the pacifist side unless their is necessary reasons to "go to war". And I think that can be reached only if you get the necessary support with logic.

oh and INclan revere at your own risk 'cause you never know who is watching you. *suspicious glance at camera in the corner of the wall* ...just kidding, but thanks for reading.

I actually started this in the hopes of writing a short story based on a wronged soldier.
