Stars

How many stars shine in the night sky?
I can lie in my bed and see them sparkling high.
The moon floats between them like a cut crystal ball,
claiming his ownership of the most timid and small.

How many stars light my darkest night?
Creating magical moments suspended from lights
and fairies who dance on spinning planets of gold,
cherishing the secrets of stories untold.

How many stars shine over my bed?
Illuminating memories of wondrous tales in my head,
love and adventure of Knights from Round Table lore,
winning the ladies who made their hearts soar.

How many stars brighten my world?
Protecting  fantasies and hopes yet to unfurl.
Lighting the sky for wild imaginations to wander,
creating dreams from thoughts once only pondered.

How many stars shine over my face?
Bathing my body in the warmth of His grace.
As I peacefully sleep under downy covers so snug,
showing those that I cherish my love in a hug.

How many stars will be there tomorrow?
Filling hearts with a peace, overshadowing sorrows,
putting to death hatred and strife
Offering all the earth's children a safe haven this night.
